2805 El Camino Real

Retail exposure is so valuable, especially on this very busy intersection along El Camino Real where this retail and office building resides. Creating an extensive retail window, approaching sixteen feet tall, wrapping the corner and running the length of the building on each frontage presented its own challenges from an environmental standpoint. Facing southwest to address the corner, the glass wall was a solar exposure nightmare. To mitigate the heat gain, an innovative shading fin assembly was layered over the glass to shade the sun yet allow visual access into the retail space. The vertical fins are progressively spaced wider and wider to reflect the motion of the passing cars.
